Jolla Phone 2026: 10,000 pre-orders reached, hardware specs complete and Jolla at MWC
I haven’t written an update on the Jolla Phone in a long time, but now there’s really a lot to talk about.
The Jolla Phone has now been pre-ordered 10,000 times, which unlocks The Other Half (THO) and now gives us all the opportunity to use the Jolla Phone’s pogo pins to create smart back covers with all kinds of expansion options. THO will be open source in terms of both hardware and software, so we’ll also get the CAD data for the back covers... a really great thing for 3D printing enthusiasts like me.

The Jolla Phone at MWC 2026 in Barcelona
At MWC Barcelona 2026
The devices shown at MWC are prototypes, but they are fully functional (i.e. no longer just visual dummies) and were prepared by Jolla in a hackathon for MWC. There are already several videos on YouTube showing what the Jolla Phone looks like in action:

Prices for the Jolla Phone 2026
Of course, there are also prices, and you can consider yourself really lucky if you pre-ordered in batch 1:
In batch 1, the Jolla Phone 2026 still cost £499. (all batches cost 99 Euro in advance, with the rest payable when the time came).
Batch 2 already cost 549 Euro, and batch 3 was available for 579 Euro.
Now, unfortunately (thanks to RAM prices on the global market), the price has already reached 649 Euro for the 8 GB version and £699 for the 12 GB version.
Jolla can’t do anything about this, because global market prices have risen MASSIVELY recently due to artificial intelligence and the data centres required for it.
Perhaps the Jolla Phone will be available again at a slightly lower price in the future, but that will probably be at the end of 2026 or more likely 2027 (and is by no means guaranteed).
So if you want to own a Jolla Phone, which is practically the only smartphone on the market that has modern hardware, is assembled in Europe, has software developed in Europe, and is made by a European manufacturer from Finland, you should probably strike now – prices could rise even further thanks to the RAM crisis, and as with the three previous batches, the latest batch for MWC is selling like hotcakes. :)
This whole development around Sailfish OS and the Jolla Phone is really exciting – which, by the way, is already running on Sailfish 5.1 on the demo devices. ;)
