Jolla Love Day 2: Das neue Jolla Community Phone C2, das Sailfish OS 4.6 Update und Jollas Mind 2-KI Device

Das neue Jolla C2 Community Phone by Reeder

Today was Jolla Love Day 2 with a keynote lasting just over an hour and what can we say:
There was a lot that Jolla presented to us.

The most important news:

  • Sailfish OS 4.6 update is now available in Early Access
  • Support for the Sony Xperia 10 IV and 10 V will come in 1-2 months, app support then in August
  • A new “Jolla Community Phone C2“ has been introduced
  • Subscription model for app support (and co.) introduced
  • The Mercedes E-Class uses Jolla’s “App Support“
  • The new “Mind 2“ AI device has been unveiled

Sailfish OS 4.6:
The new update brings many different small changes, security updates and especially 5G support for the Sony Xperia 10 III.
Unfortunately, there is also a disadvantage: on the start screen, support for the Weather app display has simply been removed instead of renewed.
Important: This version 4.6.0.11 is currently ONLY available in Early Access.

Sony Xperia 10 IV / V.
Officially announced, but not yet available (not even in the Early Access channel), the update will be available for the Sony Xperia 10 IV and V smartphones.
This will probably come in 1-2 months. According to Jolla, Android support / app support, Exchange support, etc. will probably not come until August.

Jolla Community Phone C2
Jolla has unveiled its second “own“ smartphone after a long time. It is manufactured by the Turkish manufacturer “Reeder“ and is now available for pre-order.
This makes it a (continental) European smartphone, as both the hardware and software come from Europe.

It costs 299 euros and can be pre-ordered here - delivery will begin in August:

Subscription model for app support
Starting with the Sony Xperia 10 IV, Jolla is switching to a subscription model for paid functions such as app support, exchange support and the like.
It will cost 4.99 euros / month. However, it appears to be the best form of subscription. According to the presenter:
1) The free version remains free and can be used without a subscription.
2) If you no longer pay a subscription fee, the device remains usable, but no longer receives updates.

Mercedes E-Class uses software from Jolla
Just a small mention, but still quite interesting: The new Mercedes E-Class already seems to use AppSupport from Jolla.

The new Mind 2-KI Device
It might be difficult to explain in full, but in short: it is an artificial intelligence that works locally in a small device, the Mind 2.
All information delivered to the device remains in the device and does not migrate to servers of large providers.
The AI language model used is from Microsoft (i.e. not GPT-4). If you wish, you can also integrate other language models.

The system is then practically an assistant that can, for example, be linked to the data in your own e-mail inbox in order to evaluate certain data from the e-mails and then, for example, provide advanced search functions, task tasks or suggestions for solving a query.

None of this happens automatically, but only after an explicit request from the user. You can find out more here:

In short, I find it all very interesting and extremely exciting. :)
Let’s see what the future holds.

If my website sucks, you do not need to visit it.
Have a nice day and think about how much you have payed to visit it? Nothing...
How many ads do you see at it? None.

How much money do I earn from it? Nothing.
Does it cost me something to host it? Hell yeah.

I do not see why I should provide it to you to be insulted?
